The Alliance for
Development and Democracy (ADD) is a centre party that believes in both the
private sector and the market playing their full roles in developing the
ADD seeks to contribute towards entrenching real democracy in
Zambia by concentrating on issues rather than personalities; offering solutions
rather than violence and lifting the level of debate in Zambia.
From this day hence,
“Let ideas and proposed solutions
compete for the attention of our citizens.
And may those with the best ideas
and solutions prevail.”
ADD in its process of consultations has
identified that the single issue that is affecting everybody in the entire
nation is encompassed in three similar and interlinked issues which, when rolled
together as one, constitute the one single issue that today is the scourge of
every Zambian, namely “POVERTY, CHRONIC UNDERDEVELOPMENT AND THE SUFFERING OF
This is the enemy of every Zambian, regardless of the
region they come from, their status and their gender.
It is around the
desire to defeat and eradicate this enemy that ADD is founded.
In 2009, a group of Zambians from all walks of life who
were dissatisfied with the current situation in the country came
Despite Zambia being endowed with many minerals and probably
oil and having such great potential in both Tourism and Agriculture, Zambia
still remains poor with the vast majority of its people wallowing in abject
poverty. This group of people came together with the realization that something
had to be done.
This is how the ADD was created, to seek to contribute
towards offering solutions to the problems affecting all Zambians. The ADD was
not established around an individual but on a careful collective analysis of the
issues affecting all Zambian people.
