NGOs want to meet RB
Non-Governmental Organizations have written to President Rupiah Banda
requesting to meet him over the NGO law.
The NGOs are not comfortable
with some parts of the newly enacted law.
Zambia Council for Social
Development -ZCSD- Executive Secretary Matyola Malawo says the Ngos are
concerned with the part that compels them to seek re-registration after five
Reverend Malawo told ZNBC
that the five years of existence for an NGO is not enough because some receive
funding for programmes running for more than five years.
He said the law
will create insecurity to some donors as they would not want to fund an Ngo
whose life span is questionable.
President Rupiah Banda recently assented
to the bill, which was passed by parliament.
