My father was the first Zambian policeman to have a University Degree when he studied law at the University of Zambia (UNZA) and helped promote a lot of sports in the police service. For his work in the police service, the first president Kenneth Kaunda named the Sikanze (police stadium) Edwin Imboela Stadium in his honour after he died…”

BantuWatch      

BantuWatch is a joint initiative of civil society and (social) media representatives in Zambia under leadership of SACCORD. Hivos and SODNET are providing technical support to the project. BantuWatch is an Ushahidi-based technology platform that allows citizens and civil society to monitor and report incidences around the electoral process. It provides a way for citizens and civil society to use phones or the internet to report on electoral offences such as intimidation, hate speech, vote buying, polling clerk bias and voting misinformation. Where relevant, reports are sent to or liaison takes place with electoral or security authorities.

Proflight Air Services was founded over ten years ago by ex Zambia Airways pilot Tony Irwin. He began by operating charters within Zambia and the region. In 1997, he obtained his first license to operate schedules to Mfuwe. In 2004 Proflight Air Services attracted new investors and formed Proflight Commuter Services which began scheduled services to the Copperbelt, Luangwa Valley, Victoria Falls and Lower Zambezi.

Zambezi Airlines      

Zambezi Airlines commenced operations in July 2008 as a domestic airline offering scheduled flights linking Lusaka with the Copperbelt cities of Ndola and Kitwe as well as tourist and business destinations such as Livingstone, Solwezi and Chipata. The 30 seat Embraer aircraft proved very popular with passengers and the airline quickly gained a reputation for service and reliability.
